West Volusia Beacon publishes feature on Lee Snell Remembrance

As a follow-up to the remembrance ceremony on May 23 for Volusia lynching victim Lee Snell, the West Volusia Beacon has printed a feature article by Coalition Communications Chair Evan Keller. Evan’s article describes the remembrance ceremony and provides historical background to Mr. Snell’s death in 1939.

The Mission of the Volusia Remembers Coalition is to remember, acknowledge and reflect upon our history of racial terror by partnering with the Equal Justice Initiative to install monuments to victims of lynching in Volusia County. Education is one of the coalition’s goals to accomplish its mission. Media presence such as Evan’s article in the newspaper dedicated to local news is a step in this process.

The text of the article as it printed in the Beacon is HERE.
